Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF)

The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) is a peaceful political organization that stands and strives for national independence of the entire State of Jammu Kashmir comprising upon 84,471 sq/km of area and near about 25 million of population. JKLF demands de-militarization of foreign occupational forces from the State and reunification of its divided parts followed by resumption of its lost sovereignty.

JKLF was established on 29 May 1977 by Late Amanullah Khan and his colleagues in Birmingham, UK.

In order to divert the attention of international community towards internationally recognised and long pending issue of Jammu Kashmir, JKLF in 1987-88, in accordance with UN Charter, introduced armed struggle against its occupational forces. The armed struggle was overwhelmingly supported by the common masses when hundreds and thousands of local people came out in streets demanding independence of their motherland under the banner of JKLF.

The armed struggle was later suspended with the announcement of unilateral ceasefire by Muhammad Yasin Malik in Srinagar in 1994.

The organization has a strong and well-knit students wing in the State namely; Jammu Kashmir Student Liberation Front – JKSLF that works as a nursery for its mother organization. Besides raising their voices for the rights of the students, the JKSLF plays an important role in the freedom struggle as well. The party has women representation in the shape of a separate JKLF ‘Women Wing’.

With the presence of near about two million State Subjects living abroad, JKLF has a strong and effective ‘Diplomatic Bureau’ that as diaspora works for the cause of national liberation at diplomatic front with its basis in UK. for the rights of the students, the JKSLF plays an important role in the freedom struggle as well. The party has no financial source other than its own members, mostly from overseas. Therefore, it is worth mentioning that all these offices are being run voluntarily by the respective office bearers and the members while as the HO, SHO, CIO and IS are being run through the contributions made by members from overseas.

The wide spread cadres of the JKLF, in and outside the State, follows its own democracy based constitution guarded by the highest decision and policy making institution called the Supreme Council led by democratically elected chairman as an executive head of the party. The chairman leads the central office bearers of JKLF elected by the supreme council that proportionately represents both the sides of the divide and the overseas. Besides Indian Held Jammu Kashmir (IHJK) and Azad Jammu Kashmir / Gilgit Baltistan (AJK-GB), the party in Overseas has separate zonal structures in United Kingdom (UK), European Union (EU), United States of America & Canada (USA-Canada) and in Middle East (Gulf) with Presidents as their Zonal heads. The members from gross roots elect their party structures at different levels to administer the organization that includes unit, block, tehsil and district followed by zone inside the State while as unit, branch and Zone in overseas zones. from overseas.

Salient Features

1) The JKLF Formula solves the Jammu Kashmir issue without hurting the national ego of India and Pakistan.
 
2) It is the only peaceful, practical, equitable, democratic, and honorable way to solve the Jammu Kashmir issue.
 
3) This solution changes the Jammu Kashmir issue from the position of a poisonous bone of contention into a bridge of friendship between India and Pakistan.
 
4) Jammu Kashmir, having compulsory friendly relations with both Pakistan and India, can richly benefit all three in trade, commerce, and defense.
 
5) Once the Jammu Kashmir issue is resolved satisfactorily, all other disputes between India and Pakistan will be solved in due course of time.
 
6) The ultimate solution of the Jammu Kashmir issue per this formula will be based on state subjects’ national aspirations and freely expressed will.
 
7) This Road Map will solve the Jammu Kashmir issue without shedding even one drop of blood, whereas non-resolution has cost hundreds of thousands of precious lives and many more.
 
8) This formula of JKLF saves the entire South Asia from the horrors of Atomic War between India and Pakistan and ensures for it a peaceful, prosperous, and respectful future.
