Women have been playing a very important role on our freedom struggle specially during current phase. JKLF has had Women Wing in both Indian Occupied Kashmir and Azad Kashmir. In Indian occupied part it functioned under the name of Khwateen Markaz (Ladies Center). It arranged large rallies and protest demonstrations and faced all sorts of assault from Indian occupation forces. In Azad Kashmir Women Wing functioned under Mrs. Raja Muzaffar and its active members included Rukhsana Wani , Tahira Pirzada , Shahida Butt, Zarqa Mir, Sabira Sultana , Khalida Bhatti and others. These ladies arranged rallies in Muzaffarabd , Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Mirpur , Kotli , Lahore and Karachi. Over a hundred of them marched from Muzaffarabad to Chinari on Feb 11-12, 1992 along with thousands of men to cross the ceasefire line (CFL) enmasse and unarmed. They repeated the history on different occasions when JKLF tried to corss the CFL more than once. Recently in solidarity march in October 2019 the women of AJK in general and of JKLF in particular exhibited great role and it was first time in the history of AJK that women came out in such huge numbers just to register their support for the people of Indian-held Kashmir who have been locked in their cities since 5th of August 2019.
Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front is one of the largest of all Kashmiri organizations advocating for a united and independent Jammu Kashmir State. JKLF came into existance in 1977 and since the spearheaded the movement for an independnet Kashmir. JKLF has its Student and Women Wing who are playing a valiant role in the movement. JKLF has branches in all parts of forcibly occupied and divided Jammu Kashmir beside branches in Middle East, Europe and USA. It has a history of uncompromising resilience and for which more than once its members and leadership shed their lives and many of them facing inhuman treatment by Indian forces.
