Muhammad Maqbool Butt (Kupwara, Kashmir), a national hero, who embraced gallows at the hands of Indian government in Delhi Tihar Jail on 11 February 1984. His remains were not handed over to his family but buried in the premises of the infamous Delhi Tihar Jail. For being the main source of inspiration for Kashmiri youth, he is being considered as “The Father of The Nation”. All political parties and people from across the ceasefire line do recognize him as the National Hero.
