// JKLF Chief Spokesman
The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) in its unequivocal terms very strongly condemned the heavy use of force by the government against the peacefully protesting civilians in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK). JKLF termed the ongoing peaceful rights movement in AJK led by civil society on the platform of ‘Joint Awami (People’s) Action Committee’ – JAAC as just, lawful and apolitical. This was stated by the chief spokesman of JKLF while reacting over the growing explosive and volatile situation in AJK.
In a statement issued from the central information office today the JKLF spokesman said that the deployment of Frontier and Punjab Constabularies in AJK, flag marches, raids, arrests, blocking of roads and use of might against the common civilians cannot be the solution of the issue. He said that such provocative and repressive government policy will lead the situation to nowhere but a wide range of peoples alienation and involvement of masses in the movement especially the youth.
The JKLF statement read that In recognition of the people’s demands the government of AJK needs to resume the dialogue process with JAAC as early as possible before the situation goes from bad to worse. He said that all the political parties in AJK cannot remain silent and act as mute spectators over the continued worsening of the situation. The involvement of common masses in their right’s movement followed by the repressive measures by the government to tackle the situation may force the political parties to come forth, the spokesman warned.
The JKLF spokesman accused the government of mishandling the situation and thus proved themselves inefficient. Backtracking of agreements made with JAAC and decision of use of force by the government against the civilians has actually worsened the situation to the extent that it may go beyond their control if not dealt with properly, the spokesman added. The spokesman said that the anti-people acts have exposed the competency of the government of AJK. He further said that the onus of responsibility now lies with the government to normalize the peaceful atmosphere of AJK that cannot be brought with the use of force.
According to the last reports received at 4 pm, in response to the call given by JAAC that despite blockades and hurdles created by government machinery people in large numbers from every nook and corner of AJK have come out of their homes and are right now marching towards Muzaffarabad while as thousands of people in Rawlakot and Kotli cities of Poonch Division have assembled in their respective main chowks at their district headquarters to join a big procession on way that has emanated from various places of Mirpur Division, the statement read.
