The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on “World Women’s Day” remembers women of Jammu Kashmir (JK) for being the worst victim of Indian State terrorism.

In a statement issued today from central information office of JKLF, the party spokesman Muhammad Rafiq Dar said that women in JK are the most oppressed section of the society at the hands of Indian forces.

The UNHRCO in its two consecutive reports of 2018-19 mentioned that over 8000 women in JK live the life of half widows whose husbands disappeared from custody after they were arrested by Indian forces, he informed.

While expressing his deep concern over the plight of women of JK, the JKLF spokesman asked world community especially the world human rights institutions to hold India responsible for being involved in war crimes against women in the State.

Citing the example of Kunan Poshpora village of Kupwara district in IOK where near about 2 dozen local women were raped by Indian forces during a search operation on 23 February 1991, the spokesman said that during the last three decades women have been molested, thrashed and arrested every now and then by Indian forces in IOJK.

The spokesman demanded early and unconditional release of all women political prisoners languishing in Indian jails for years together so that justice is done. He said that these near about two dozen illegally detained women of JK have been arrested for holding a political belief of demanding people’s birth right to freedom and right to self-determination.

Rafiq Dar paid rich tributes to the Kashmiri women for the sacrifices they rendered and for the role they have been playing in the freedom movement of JK.
